Arlie & Company is seeking a conservation-minded company interested in acquiring this property with the goal of sustainable harvesting and ecosystem preservation. With the employment of sustainable forestry practices, the volume of timber production of this forest could be increased in the long term and would provide timber to benefit the local economy in perpetuity.
This outstanding parcel of land on the Big Island of Hawai‘i features 4500-acres of  native Koa forest. Koa (Acacia koa A. Gray), is a prized tropical hardwood used for high-end furniture, musical instruments, arts and crafts items and cabinetry. Koa is widely regarded as the "king" of all native Hawaiian woods. In addition to Koa, the other commercial timber species found on the property is‘ōhi‘a (Metrosideros polymorpha Gaud.). ōhi‘a is used as flooring, posts and porch rails, as well as for craft items.
General Location: The  property is located approximately 8 miles southwest of  the city of Hilo, which has a population of 44,145 (See Vicinity Map Below). Hilo is a center for retail activities for over 75,000 people. As a center of commerce, Hilo is one of two deep water ports that serve the Island of Hawaii, is the county seat, and has an international airport.  Most major businesses and government offices on the Island of Hawaii are headquartered in the city.  The diversified economy of the Hilo area includes agriculture, aquaculture, ranching, trade, tourism, education, and government.
