Community Garden and Dog Park to Enhance Crescent Village
Released: 04/16/2008
Arlie & Company Newsletter - Spring 2008
A new community garden and an off-leash dog park will soon add to Crescent Village residents enjoyment of the great outdoors. Plant Manager Shawn Wells is hopeful that garden parcels will be ready as early as this spring. The garden will be completely organic and will utilize raised beds for optimum water efficiency, says Shawn. Crescent Village residents and the general public can rent irrigated plots in the cedar-fenced garden ranging in size from 60 to 120 square feet, with tools included in the rental fee. A walking path approximately 1/3-mile long will connect the garden to Crescent Villages growing Town Center.
An off-leash dog park will be open to both residents and visitors as well, and will be accessed by an approximately 1/8-mile walking path from Town Center. The fenced park will feature a double entry vestibule, watering area, a spacious, landscaped area shaded intermittently with established trees and seating for the two-legged. The dog park is tentatively scheduled to open spring 2009.
Were still in the planning phase of these projects, and the details of their design are likely to change, says Shawn. But were working with David Dougherty, a talented local landscape architect whos helping to ensure that these parks become comfortable, inviting places for our residents and the whole community to enjoy.
