Florence-based Siuslaw Bank is preparing to open its third outpost in Eugene — a full-service branch at the Crescent Village development, along Crescent Avenue just east of Coburg Road.

The building — anchored by Siuslaw Bank but with additional tenants — is expected to be under construction by this fall, said Sadie Dressekie, marketing director for the development firm Arlie & Company.

“That fulfills what we want to do, as far as having a drive-up bank that’s really convenient for local people — those who live there (at Cresent Village), and those going to and from the hospital in Springfield,” Dressekie said.

Officials at Siuslaw Bank were unavailable to comment on the project Wednesday.

But Dressekie said a bank has long been envisioned as a key element of the 40-acre, mixed-use development being built by Arlie & Co.

“(Banks) serve an important day-to-day use,” Dressekie said. “One of the things we’re trying to do with Crescent Village is create a community there that has kind of a boutique interest that will bring people there for special occasions, but also recognize the importance of having day-to-day uses for the neighborhood.”

A first wave of retailers has begun moving into Crescent Village’s two “town center” buildings that sit on either side of the development’s main street. Bello Day Spa & Salon opened earlier this month, and three more businesses — the Cornerstone Cafe, Mezza Luna Pizzeria and Lago Blu Gelato — are preparing to open this spring.

The Siuslaw Bank building will be situated next to Crescent Avenue, in front of the east town center building. A similar stand-alone building is planned for a spot in front of the west town center building, and is likely to house either a restaurant or multiple retail tenants, Dressekie said.

Siuslaw Bank is driving the construction process for its new building, and Dressekie was unable to provide details including square footage and cost.

Siuslaw has another full-service branch a few miles to the west, on Village Plaza Loop off Goodpasture Island Road. It also has a loan servicing office on Country Club Road.

In all, the bank currently has nine full-service branches — in Mapleton, Florence, Veneta, Cottage Grove, Creswell, Pleasant Hill, Oakridge, Springfield and Eugene.

Siuslaw Bank — then known as Siuslaw Valley Bank — was founded in 1964 to service the Maptleton area, which was a thriving lumber- and plywood-producing region.

Its first expansion into the Willamette Valley came with the opening of its Pleasant Hill branch in 1973.

At Crescent Village, the two town center buildings each have three stories of apartments above their ground floor retail space.

A third building, behind the west town center structure, already is under construction and will offer an additional 7,000 square feet of ground-floor retail storefronts with 28,000 square feet of office space on the floors above.

The $53 million first phase of Arlie & Company’s Crescent Village development also includes 40 units of three-story detached townhouses.

The next phase of construction at the site is expected to include another building toward the rear of the town center structures, with additional retail space and apartments units.

Additional apartments and possibly a condominium building are also being considered by Arlie and Co.

Planning is still under way for a 50,000-square-foot grocery store on vacant land located to the west of the town center buildings.
